INCREASE AGENCY OF ELECTED REPRESENTATIVES FOR CHILD PROTECTION IN ODISHA- PHASE II

Project Overview

This project is designed to enhance the effectiveness of the State Legislators Forum by providing targeted support and capacity-building activities. This will involve improving the forum’s structure, increasing the engagement of legislators in child protection issues, and fostering a collaborative environment for addressing children’s rights and needs.

The goal of this project is to create a robust platform where legislators are well-informed and actively involved in advocating for child-focused policies and programs.

This project would also reinforce CACL’s (Campaign Against Child Labour) presence and impact within the state by revitalising its initiatives and increasing its visibility. This will include organizing awareness campaigns, mobilising community support, and strengthening partnerships with
local organizations and stakeholders. The aim is to intensify the campaign’s effectiveness in combating child labour and promoting child rights.

Genral Objective

Empower legislators in Odisha State to effectively advocate for children’s issues in legislative sessions, ensuring responsive governance and improved outcomes for child rights while enhancing the physical and mental well-being of children by guaranteeing their rights to survival, development, protection, and participation, and strengthening their agency.

Activate the Campaign Against Child Labour (CACL) in Odisha

Facilitate dialogue between children and legislators to ensure their issues related to protection, education, and governance are adequately addressed in policies and programs
