Dr. A. V. Baliga Memorial Trust

Dr. A. V. Baliga Memorial Trust founded by great freedom fighter Bharat Ratna Aruna Asaf Ali is a nonprofit organization operating its diversified activities including in the sector of education, child rights, women’s empowerment, livelihood, health, sanitation and environment in slums and resettlement colonies of National Capital Territory of Delhi for over four decades. Also, Dr. A V Baliga Memorial Trust is the Secretariat of the National Advocacy Unit of Campaign against Child Labour –CACL. As Secretariat CACL NAU- Currently Running two projects:

  1. Protection of children from Child Labor-Supported by TDH Germany –IP (Aug 2020-Sep 2021)
  2. Pilot Project To End The Worst Forms of Child Labour in Mica Mining in Bihar & Jharkhand Supported by GIZ & Terre Des Hommes-Germany, India Program (Jan 2021-March 2022)

  • Online newsletter-CACL Bulletin (a quarterly journal)
  • Webinar on CL issues (4 ) completed
  • State consultations-completed in many states
  • Compendium on child labour
  • Meeting with parliamentarians- Couldn’t be held due to covid 19 2nd wave-planned an online meeting in Sep 2021
  • Advocacy with other networks, trade unions and NGOs-National Consultation –conducted 44 days campaign- #ShramNahiShiksha-from 30 April-12 June 2021

 

Following programmes were conducted during -44 days campaign #ShramNahiShiksha’ ( 30th April – 12th June 2021) to observe International Year for the Elimination of Child Labour -2021 and World Day Against Child Labour(12th June).

  • Online national consultation on ‘Issues and Challenges of Child Labour Eradication in India”
  • Held on 12th June 2021.
  • 25 Child labourers from 14 States joined and shared their stories with everyone.
  • Also, many important Stakeholders have joined the consultation to listen to children and suggesting ways to address the challenges in the total eradication of child labour in India and making India child labour free.
  • This online consultation was organised by Campaign Against Child Labour, as a part of a 44 days campaign #ShramNahiShiksha’ ( 30th April – 12th June 2021) to observe International Year for the Elimination of Child Labour -2021 and World Day Against Child Labour(12th June).
  • Four awareness videos were also produced during the 44 days campaign on child labour issues to observe ‘The International Year for the Elimination of Child Labour -2021’ & World Day Against Child Labour(12th June 2021) .
  • National consultation :Coverage: face book live: 75 direct, 1800 indirct, Zoom- 100 at a time

 

 

Major activities under the project: Pilot Project To End The Worst Forms of Child Labour in Mica Mining in Bihar & Jharkhand-

  • Website development for campaign
  • Radio message development and broadcasting -(on Local FM channels) for the awareness generation -TOR is in the process of finalization ,-8 radio messages will be developed for the awareness generation on the issue of ‘children working in Mica Mines in Mica Mining in Bihar and Jharkhand.
  • T V Spots development and telecasting- (through local cable channels) for the awareness generation  , 5 Video spots will be prepared and telecasted for the awareness generation on the issue of ‘children working in Mica Mines in Mica Mining in Bihar and Jharkhand.
  • Social media campaign on the project theme.
  • Two state Level Consultation to be organized (one in Patna and One in Ranchi) with all the stakeholders on the project theme.(Dec 21-Jan-22)
  • One National Consultation to be organized (in Delhi) with all the stakeholders on the project theme.
